Meet Allan Pinto: Your future teacher librarian
Discover the journey, passion, and philosophy behind Allan Pinto's transition into the role of a teacher librarian, dedicated to fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments.

My unexpected journey to the library
At the age of 50, I unexpectedly had the opportunity to work as a substitute in a school library. What began as a temporary role quickly became a turning point in my professional life. I discovered a deep connection with the library environment and the transformative role it plays within a school community. This experience ignited my passion for becoming a teacher librarian, driven by a desire to help students learn and discover new things.

Fostering engaging and accessible learning
I am currently a student in the Teacher Librarian Continuing Teacher Education Program at Queen’s University. Through this program, I am expanding my practice to include the principles of the Library Learning Commons, with a focus on inquiry-based learning, information literacy, and collaborative teaching. My goal is to make learning fun and accessible for all students, especially when it comes to using the library and finding information effectively.

My vision for impact
As a future teacher librarian, I hope to have a meaningful and positive impact on both students and the wider school community by contributing to an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. As I am still in the process of learning and developing my practice through the Teacher Librarian program at Queen’s University, my current focus is on becoming a professional who is supportive, creative, and responsive to the needs of others.
"Allan's dedication to creating a supportive learning environment is truly inspiring, and I'm excited to see the positive impact they will have as a teacher librarian."
